On YURAI, it is possible to publish different types of works, such as webtoons, webcomics, mangas and novels. We recommend proven working methods to facilitate the uploading of your publications on our platform while ensuring that they meet your expectations and our standards (quality, size, color, etc.).

How to save and export your work for publication

While you are working on your episodes or chapters, we recommend that you always save your original episodes and chapters in an editable format, sush as .CLIP or .PSD/.PSB in order to keep the editable layers. Therefore, we strongly suggest that you do not merge the text layers in your illustration layers so that you can easily edit elements if necessary, for example correcting spelling errors.

Once you are ready to export your work for publication, always use the "export" or "save as" option in order to keep your original files and all their layers.

Below you will find our suggested working methods depending on the type of work you are creating.

Exportation for webtoon type

Using Clip Studio Paint

1. Open your webtoon in Clip Studio Paint (.CLIP ideally)

2. In the top menu: File > Export webtoon

3. Enter the following settings (you can click on the image below to zoom in on it).

For the "Name", we suggest this nomenclature: {#episode}-{Your_series_name}

Example once exported: 001-My_series_001.jpg

Export webtoon from Clip Studio Paint

4. Click on OK. Your episode should now be exported!

Using Photoshop

1. Open your webtoon in Photoshop (.PSD/.PSB file ideally).

2. Make sure your document has a width of 800px or resize it to this size. Take note that for the following procedure, Photoshop cannot export slices from a document with a height of more than 30,000 px.

3. Grab the Slice tool - Style: Fix, Width: 800px, Height: 1280px

4. Slice your document using the Slice tool. Carefully place the slices one below the other, making sure they connect well together.

5. Once your document is completely sliced, go in the top menu: File > Export > Save for web. The export window will open.

6. Exportation settings:

  • Type: JPEG
  • Quality: Maximum / 100
  • Check embed color profile
  • You can check convert to sRGB

Click on Save

7. In the save window, select the folder in which you want to save the exported files. We recommend changing the file name now. We suggest this nomenclature: {#episode}-{Your_series_name}

Example once exported: 001-My_series_01.jpg

Format: Images

Parameters: Default
Slices: All slices

8. Click on save. Your episode should now be exported!

Good to know

Accepted file extensions for images are: .jpg / .png / .gif

Recommended color profile: sRGB

Recommended size per slice (image): 800 x 1280px

Remember that the larger and heavier your files are, the slower they will display to the reader. This is why it is good to have smaller files. That being said, we believe that it is preferable to prioritize quality rather than display speed. The ideal is to have a good balance between the two, hence our recommendations.

Exportation for novel

Novels are a special case since they generally only contain text. We recommend writing your story in a Word document, Google Doc, or other type of text file. When you're ready to publish the chapter on YURAI, simply select the entire text and copy/paste it into the text field on YURAI.

For the moment, we only accept text for Novels, but we are working on formatting features and the ability to add images. These features will be added in the future and we will share you more information in due time.

How to properly organize your files and folders to simplify publication

Folders

Episode_{#index}

Example: Episode_001

Images

{#episode}-{Your_series_name}_{#slice or #page}.jpg

Example: 001-Painted_Dragon_01.jpg.

This way, it will be really easy to publish on YURAI and any other platform. It's also the best way to backup your work and, if you work in team, your teamates will love to see everything so well organized! :D
